There is an option to display (or not) a visual alert when an e-mail arrives. It can be found in 'Tools > Options > General' Make sure the 'Show an alert' box is ticked in the 'When new messages arrive' section.
That should still work if Thunderbird minimised.
I am using Mozilla Thunderbird as my email application. Is there a way to have the app. running in the background and not have to have it open in order for me to know I have mail? The only way I know I have mail is to leave Thunderbird open and I get an audible message letting me know I have new mail. I used to use Incredimail and you would get a visual notifier and an audible one letting you know of new mail and I didn't have to have the application open. Once you closed it, it would stay running in the background unless you stop it from running. I don't see that option with Thunderbird. I either have to leave it open or open it up each time to check for mail.
If anyone uses Thunderbird, I would appreciate some information about this subject given I am new to it.
