Once you've plugged it in to to a USB port and done the drag & drop thing, you need to eject it. Be sure to wait until the flash drive's icon disappears from your screen before you pull it out. Mine has a flashing light that indicates it is in use. The icon disappearance roughly coincides with the cessation of the flashing.

Flash Drive appears

Some BASICS: Your Flash Drive will appear as a drive Icon on your Desktop. Just double-click it to open it up if you want to see items you save/copy/drag to it.

Working in an application, if you do a File Save-As routine you will see your Flash Drive listed along with all other drives. Just select that, select a Folder to save to, give the file a name, and SAVE.

Before ejecting any Flash/Thumb drive, close down everything you had open on it and then eject it properly. Sometimes these little steps will save you from getting white hair early!
