Thousands of blank contacts when syncing Outlook & Nokia3650

Aug 29, 2005 6:47AM PDT

Hello,

I'm using the PC Suite for Nokia 3650 v1.0.0 on a Dell x300 laptop running XP SP2.

I'm having an ongoing issue when syncing my Nokia 3650 contacts with my Outlook 2003 contacts on my laptop.

The problem is that multiple blank contacts are created both on the 3650 and in Outlook.

I have tried multiple syncs where I change only one item, many items or no items on either device.

After each sync, I delete the blank contacts, either on one device or both devices prior to the next sync.

A few syncs back, I backed up my contacts in Outlook, then deleted *all* contacts in the phone and *all* contacts in Outlook and did a sync. The result was over 2800 blank contacts created in the Outlook contacts folder. I stopped the sync because it was taking so long so it may actually have been worse than that had I allowed it to continue.

I deleted the blanks again.

The next sync resulted in another few hundred blanks in Outlook.

I deleted them again on both devices.

The next sync - Back up to more than 2800 blanks.

I deleted them again.

The next time, I tried to delete them on the phone but couldn't because contacts had a system error (memory was too low so I had to restart the phone and delete them). I restarted the phone and deleted the blank contacts there - This time there were 3065 of them!

Have you ever heard of this happenning before?

I do not seem to be able to get back to a situation of no contacts on both devices so I can start to progressively add back contacts. Any advice on how to do that?

Julian Smith
