Thoughts on New Toshiba Satellite Laptop. Specs Inside

by rchellappa / July 9, 2012 9:44 AM PDT

Satellite S850-BT2G22 Laptop
Intel® Core™ i7-3610QM Processor
8GB DDR3 1600MHz (4GB + 4GB), 500GB HDD (5400rpm, Serial ATA),
2GB DDR3 AMD Radeon™ HD 7670M Graphics

There is great deal for this laptop (~$800).

Anybody with knowledge or bought this? I am planning to buy this. I am drawn to Lenovo which has similar config. but is priced higher.

I do lot of graphic intensive work so dedicated GPU is great. Memory can also be maxed at 16 GB.

I appreciate comments. Thanks.

Nice machine BUT

It's a great deal but packing all that power into a laptop usually takes it's toll in short life spans. Figure instead of the usual 4 years, 2 to 3 years.

Nice specs for the price.

I have owned a toshiba satellite U305S5127 for 5 years now. Heating has been a issue but it has served me well (replaced battery after 3 years).

I think I will take my chances with this one. The specs are really amazing Happy

Comparable Samsung/Lenovo memory are maxed out at 8 GB too. Maybe I will get a cooling pad or something...

The newer adobe CS3 programs are memory hogs and I suspect it will only get worse with newer versions.
