Question

Those new razors

Aug 17, 2016 8:45AM PDT

Hey guys, just out of curiosity, anyone use a newer type razor that's more than 2-blades? Are they really worth it or produce the desired results? I've used Trac-II for years and similar ones as well, but overall don't understand why the cost is so high for x-blades. I believe one day, they'll be 10-blade or better models and one swipe will you're done shaving. Wink -----Willy Happy

There was an article on that.

The main reason for dual blade was pretty simple. You have twice as many inches of blade to wear out so you can make a cheap blade and to get the life span up, use 2.

So at three blades of the same quality you see about 50% more lifespan so just on the time between changes you see a gain.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tQT47hHrZaA gets you into old school James Bond shaving.

I prefer the dual and triple blade systems since I don't want to spend the 20 minutes with the system James Bond used.

This is just a personal preference,

I really don't think they do an effective job of shaving, at least not for me. I preferred the single edge blade but I think it will become an endanger species soon thought.

I've had a significant decrease in facial hair growth since radiation treatments back in the early '80. My sideburn area was completely burned away. Do I really care? Nope. But your post reminded me of long ago when bathroom medicine cabinets had a slot in which to insert used razor blades. You'd hear them dropping down into the wall somewhere. I could wonder what might happen to someone someday who, during remodeling, tears away the drywall with their bare hands. Happy

reminds me of a cartoon that came out when the first three blade razor was released. It was a picture of a man who just used a 20+ blade razor and half of his face was gone.

I use a five blade one and get refills at the local Freds Dollar store. Since it is a Freds brand, it is about a quarter of the price for the named brands. Even cheaper than what you get at Walmart. So if you have a major discount store, check the store brand line. Could save you a lot of money.

I know you guys and gals have visited stores to buy razors. The huge selection is in itself a wonder. I used to buy replacement head unit disposables now its total razor disposable. OHHHH... the lube strip, wow that lasts a short time. Sad

O h yes, I never want to see a lady shave, geezzz those legs look great already. -----Willy Wink

I hate the lube, it's slimy.

I know the razor marketing folks prefer "silky smooth", but I say it's slimy, and I say the H*** with it.

I use the 3-blade models because I can't find 2-blades that are decently made. IMO >2 is incrementally useless.

Don't like being shaved and slimed at the same time.
