White House Chief of Staff Card Resigns -- start of West Wing shakeup?

>> White House chief of staff Andy Card has resigned and will be replaced by budget director Josh Bolten, an administration official said Tuesday. President Bush announced the shake up during a meeting with reporters Tuesday morning in the Oval Office of the White House. <<

Not that his going isn't richly deserved -- too bad the rest of the Administration doesn't go with him. It's times like this one wishes our system included a "no confidence vote!" The White House problem lies not in the West Wing, but in the East Wing.

... about a ''shakeup''.

Card has been Chief of Staff for Bush's entire administration. Perhaps he wants a bit of a life back, or to make a little money commensurate with his skills.

Changes in GWB's Administration seem so ''important'' only because there have been so few (and a need for so few at that).

Chiefs of Staff

A quick look at that link shows that the last President to even have the same CoS for ONE full term was Reagan in his first term. Reagan had three in his second term, Bush-41 had three for one term, Ford had two for his shortened term, and Carter had 2.5 for his single term (the vacancy being himself Wink). Clinton had four FWIW.

Big whoop!
