Question

"This webpage is unavailable"

Jan 28, 2015 2:33AM PST

So since yesterday, I've had this problem connecting to a couple websites, and it saying "This webpage is unavailable".

I thought it was just the server connection between me and the website, but apparently not.

I've tried changing my proxy settings, clearing my browsing history, cookies, password (all site data), and rebooting my modem, but no luck at all.

Are there any other methods I could try to do and fix this? Thanks!

======

I've also tried accessing the websites on my phone with my data, and the connection was fine. So it must be something with my home network.

(Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask)

I've seen a post where it says to put my settings to http://prntscr.com/5y7qp5.

As for "tell what site so others can test it.".. I've said it in my post > "I've also tried accessing the websites on my phone with my data, and the connection was fine. So it must be something with my home network."

I don't see any detail about the home network.

Many newer routers have firewalls. Odd because a NAT Router (sure if you want to dive into all that) did that over a decade ago without the troubles I've seen in routers that added more to the natural firewall.

I don't see enough detail, can't see which web site or ISP.

For example, ATT can really lag on DNS records. But again I don't see enough detail to write to try 8.8.8.8 for the DNS.

http://gigarank.net/ is the website. Like I said, the website works fine on my phone/tablet while browsing with cellular/data connection, but when it comes down to me using it on my pc/laptop, it doesn't connect of of yesterday.

I can see where ATT's laggy DNS would be in play.

As you appear to be a web master, you should be aware of the DNS propagation issues.

Try 8.8.8.8 as well as the dnscheck sites.

Why? Their status page is http://www.status.gi9.co/ and you can bet if they move/change the name or IP it can be afflicted with DNS lag.

OK, the DNSCHECK shows there are issues at that site:
http://dnscheck.pingdom.com/?domain=gigarank.net%2F
Among them is the issue with ns2:
"ns2.gigadnsserver.com.

Name server ns2.gigadnsserver.com (94.23.121.115) does not answer queries over UDP.

The name server failed to answer queries sent over UDP. This is probably due to the name server not correctly set up or due to misconfigured filtering in a firewall.

Name server ns2.gigadnsserver.com (94.23.121.115) does not answer queries over TCP.

The name server failed to answer queries sent over TCP. This is probably due to the name server not correctly set up or due to misconfgured filtering in a firewall. It is a rather common misconception that DNS does not need TCP unless they provide zone transfers - perhaps the name server administrator is not aware that TCP usually is a requirement."

There's more but I'd just try 8.8.8.8 for now if not their own http://www.whois.com/whois/gigadnsserver.com (use the NS1)
