"This page cannot be displayed..."

Dec 10, 2006 3:55AM PST

A friend asked me to clean up her computer which I have. However, every time I connect to the internet via dial up and try to go to a web page, all I get is "This page cannot be displayed...". Her computer is a Compaq Presario 6000; Win XP Home Version 5.1.2600; AMD Athlon XP 1800+; 2G HD; 112 MB ram; Lucent Win Modem (COM 3 port). She previously used Road Runner and I have deleted everything related to it. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

The problem with this page cannot be displayed is that its so generic.

You didn't say with browser you are having problems with,if IE,click HERE and HERE

Have you run any anti spyware or anti virus programs?

Maybe check your firewall settings.

This works sometimes, delete temp files amd cookies.

Thanks for the info, Tom. I have just read the two Microsoft articles and will work with them tomorrow to see if that will help the problem with my friend's puter. Sorry I forgot to list the browser she is using...it is IE6.
