This may be good news on the malaria front:

Australian scientists have identified a potential treatment to combat malaria.
"The malaria parasite produces a glue-like substance which makes the cells it infects sticky, so they cannot be flushed through the body.
The researchers have shown removing a protein responsible for the glue can destroy its stickiness, and undermine the parasite's defence. ..."

A protein is a protein, so this technique may be "immune" to the 'superbug' problem which is now affecting the malaria fight.

Maybe good news eventually ...

This gives us a new possibility for fighting Malaria, which is good. It won't necessarily be an easy thing to implement, though, and there is still potential for development of resistance. After all, many modern antibiotics attack protein synthesis and resistance is a problem. Also, there may be various mutations of the protein which respond differently to the treatment. And other barriers may exist.
Still, it is interesting and potentially useful.
