Chrome and Windows versions please
Dec 2, 2013 11:45AM PST

I'm using Chrome version 31.0.1650.57 m with Windows 7 64 bit every day, and haven't run into this, but since my dog has broken my crystal ball, YMMV because you may have something different.

Things to try

You must have something corrupted somewhere, so here's what I'd try. First try clearing your browser cache. Sometimes that can fix problems. If that doesn't help, I'd try MalwareBytes. Sometimes it can find and eliminate malware that antivirus programs don't. If that doesn't help, you could uninstall and re-install Chrome. Finally you could check for corrupted system files. Open an administrator command prompt and run SFC if the above doesn't help. Click START, then type CMD in the search box, right-click CMD.EXE and click Run as administrator. Then from the command prompt type sfc /scannow.
FWIW I've been running Chrome for several days with 8 tabs open to CNET's forums, Canon's site, Yahoo, Weber, Home Depot, and Chrome help and never have problems. I've been using Chrome like this for about a year. Obviously YMMV.

Doubtful.

As so many use it without the issues noted, the bug seems to be not in Chrome. Often folk don't share a full story but if Chrome was as buggy as noted here then no one would use it.
