The ThinkPad is too similar to the one you listed and it handily passed up the sempron. But it has 512MB RAM, runs Windows XP and is just as fast as the day it arrived.
Hi, i have two old laptops i dragged out and both seem to work fine, except for perhaps lacking some ram. the thinkpad r50 is pentium m 1500mhz(says pentium m, not sure if that is celeron, but celeron is not stated anywhere) with 512 ram 40g hd, the acer 3002wncli is mobile sempron 2800+ 1.6 ghz with 512 ram 60gb hd and both run xp pro.
Most of the other things are the same cept the acer has one extra usb whereas the thinkpad has firewire. i think the ibm is probably more solidly build, and the battery life is far greater then the acer. so i dont really know whats under the hood so to speak, im pretty sure i got the acer at least a year later then the ibm..but memory is hazy. Both are bottlenecked i think by ram so hard to compare.
One of them is gonna get some new ram which i can get very cheaply, and a new os install. My question is which is the better machine in terms of performance and worth throwing some ram in just to have extra machine?
