Resolved Question

Thinking ThinkPad, but I think I'm confused

Jan 7, 2012 4:19AM PST

<span id="INSERTION_MARKER">Hi there. I'm torn between the Lenovo ThinkPad x121e and the Edge e320. I mainly need to manage web content and edit text, including html , but I occasionally (once a fortnight-ish) do a bit of dtp and illustrating. I have a 1TB external HDD, so I'm not too bothered about storage (both come with 320GB). Portability and a long battery life so I can work from wherever is the prime concern. I'm leaning towards the x121e, low-voltage i3 (highest possible with this model) with 8GB ram for serious multitasking. But I'm worried about how well it will cope when I hook it up to my LCD monitor to do a bit of graphics work, in which case I might be better with the e320 with an i5 processor and dedicated graphics card? HELP!

Nice choices.

But battery life looks to be about 300 cycles so would you call the long battery life?

By comparison to my ailing hp dv2000, anything longer than 40 mins seems great! Not sure if it's a long battery life, but x121e seems fairly decent. The e320, not so muchHappy

Both are better than my older machine on a big screen.

I think you've helped me stick with plan A -- the x121e. I think it was the lure of more bells and whistles of the e320 that created the confusion, but I think the 121 will be more of an old faithful (I hope). Many many thanks from a terribly indecisive me!
