Thin vertical line on Samsung LCD TV

by geoffuk / December 13, 2009 8:13 AM PST

My Samsung 52" LCD TV LN-T5265f is 18 months old. When first powered on, two thin vertical lines appear toward the left of the screen. After about 20 minutes one line disappears and the remaining one goes spontaneously after a total of 35 mins power on. The time taking to disappear is getting longer so I assume they will be there permanently soon.

Thin vertical line on Samsung LCD TV - I have same issue
by brettj01 / February 10, 2010 2:13 AM PST

I also have this same issue on the same model TV LN-T5265. I have one, very thin, purple vertical line about 1" from the left side of the screen. It comes and goes and has been showing up for about a month now. It doesn't seem to be any of the other components (DirectTV HD DVR, PS3) as the line has been present and absent using both components. TV is out of original warranty, but I bought a three extended (through Circuit City of course) that is valid until March 2011.

Anyone have any solutions or possible causes?

Do lines become permanent?
by geoffuk / February 10, 2010 3:36 AM PST

I also bought a 3 year extended warranty but I am reluctant to use it yet since they will probably want to take the TV to their workshop and it has to be detached from the motorized wall-mount (another Samsung product which is faulty after 18 months use) and re-installed. Would the warranty cover this?.
Letters of complaint to Samsung remain unanswered and I have heard this is typical of the company. I will NOT be buying anymore Samsung products!

Thin line on Samsung 52" LCD

Did you ever do anything about the lines on your TV? I am going to live with mine a while longer. My 3 year extended warranty expires in 2011 also. It seems the screen is at fault and the TV will need replacing. Not a simple thing with such a big wall-mounted TV.

Haven't done anything about it yet...I'm hoping it fixes itself, but not likely. I'm staring at the little line as I type this...

Vertical Lines

I have exactly the same problem with mine. Started at 18 months, just like you. Exactly the same tv. Model LNT5265FX/XAA and Serial Number AJ733CFQ101332D. Version SS05. I have lived with it for a few years, but tired of it now. It keeps getting worse. Going to buy Sony tv to replace it. I never had trouble with Sony. It is a shame, because I like the Samsung televisions better.

Thin vertical line on Samsung LCD TV

My Samsung recently started doing the same thing. Single, vertical, purple line about 1 inch from the right edge of the screen. 40" LN40B530P7FXZA purchased October 25, 2009 (less than 5 years old as of this posting). As the other poster said, it shows up as soon as the TV is first turned on and then goes away after a while. Very annoying.
