Thin or Rich?

May 2, 2006 5:01AM PDT
Jobless or fat? Most prefer former

More than half of Americans say they'd rather lose their jobs than get fat.

Fifty-eight percent of women and 54% of men say they'd rather be unemployed than gain 75 pounds. And 63% of women and 55% of men say they'd rather be poor with no extra pounds to lose than rich and substantially overweight.

These are the findings of a poll of 1,007 people for Fitness magazine. It will appear in the June issue.

Hmmmmm....

I can agree about the swimsuit shopping. Having my wisdom teeth out was painless both times.

I guess they didn't ask Paris or Nicole, because both are both.

If you are rich you can afford to go to the gym, work out, hire a personal trainer, etc.

I thought so too ...

... seemed the respondents really downplayed the difficulties associated with being jobless and/or poor vs. the commitment needed to lose weight.

Yeah, being poor an unable to afford food

Might afford you no extra pounds to lose!

How ridiculous! Was this poll all Fitness magazine readers? I don't think a lot of heavy folks subscribe, do they?

I was wondering the same thing ...

... and it doesn't say much for the magazine's readers if this is their mindset. Also seems to put an odd premium on how much work it takes to stay fit?! Somehow it's harder to do that (in their minds) than hold down a decent job and provide for oneself and family??

I demand a recount! :-)

Or, rather a new poll among people who do not subscribe to a fitness magazine. Those readers have already motivated themselves to improve their bodies. Happy

Me? I'll take rich. Then I could hire a personal trainer.

Woiuldn't have to work if I didn't want too, either.

Simple! Happy
