So glad the baby is OK. But you're right.those perpetrators are barbaric. I really feel badly for the woman's husband. I hope he is able to make peace with what has happened and he the child have a happy life.

Sad part is you can bet there will be a mental defense
by Diane Harrison / December 18, 2004 6:21 AM PST

It's hard to distinguish totally barbarous and heinous acts from mental illness sometimes. This one sounds very premeditated though. I suspect she'll be found plenty competent to stand trial and will be found guilty, rather than NGI, but she's likely to vist the kookoo ward at some point after that. That is just horrifically sick! Wonder if she had been rejected for adoptions before. She had lost her own child, so it's not like she couldn't get PG anyway. At least she confessed, so it makes the case more easy to prove.

they find her plenty competent to stand trial. Depends on the defense and will probably go the route of Temp. Insanity which most use as a cop out. Either way it will probably be a long drawn out tax payers expense.

and CNN is that the woman has been arrested and very little about her........but there doesn't seem to be any mention of the man they originally reported as being a suspect or under arrest. Has anybody heard or read anything about him and his role in this?

No man mentioned
by Diane Harrison / December 18, 2004 7:28 AM PST

All the reports I've heard say that the victim and supect met in an Internet site relating to dogs. They agreed to meet apparently, and the suspect went to the victim's house - they had never met in person before. The suspect had told her family that she had another child (she had lost one a year before). Unknown what she explained to her husband. No one has mentioned a man in this though. And apparently her confession was just to doing it by herself. At least that is inferred.

Too much planning went on

She knew the nature of the act and if she had brought tools to do it, that makes it even more sick and more provable. It was premeditated from all sounds of it so far. She knew it was a human woman, carrying a viable human baby that she wanted. She killed the mother and quickly removed the child with somewhat good precision that at first looked to show some knowledge of how to do the procedure. That all mitigates against NGI. Not to say she isn't nutty - just not NGI.

This happened in Chicago a few years ago. The killers

got the death penalty, but are still fighting it.

This is a pretty strong case for a weapon in the home. There is not much chance for self defense without it particularly in rural areas where the police cannot respond fast enough.

species are "lower" forms of life. Yet only man is capable of this. Sick, just sick.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
