Resolved Question

Thermal Paste

Mar 26, 2018 6:54PM PDT

I just bought a used pc. Clean all the dust. The PC has only 130 working hours. It has AMD FX-8150 procesor that temperature shoudn go more than 61 celsius. The PC is 4 years old. When I load the procesor with a game it jumps to 60 or even a few degrese abowe to 64. Should I change the thermal paste to get better cooling or is it to early? I have a Thermaltake cooler not shure what model I will chec later and a fan on the casing. The CPU is not overclocked.
Edit I have a thermaltake contact 21 cooler. Still havent changed the thermal paste I didnt't had the time.

Stay in your comfort zone. Remember where the parts went, take pictures so you know later if you tend to forget.

Answer
Re-paste
Mar 28, 2018 12:41PM PDT

Why not re-paste the heatsink compound. Don't over do it and just add a touch. Clean the old paste off and re-apply paste. Make sure is correct and power-ON. Hopefully that should clear that up. If cooling is an issue, be sure all cooling methods are at 100% and working. Any dust clogs, etc. frt. panel or under heatsinks, etc. could be hidden from view, so check.
