I agree

But I can understand the confusion.

For that article to head their piece "The World's Most Corrupt Countries", then produce a list that is, in effect, in reverse order, is quite silly to my thinking. Happy

If I'm not mistaken transparency

has only been a buzz word for a few years now, maybe 5 at the most so any report about it is subject to scepticism. Sort of like wonky. wonky as in "My PC is acting wonky". Will wonky last? Will is be here in 30 years like, cool is now? (shrug) Cool has credibility, wonky is just wonky. Happy

Hmmm. Hey, this is BuzzSlang (remember you heard it hear first. Phrased by Dango517 a.k.a.- DEG , 2/18/10 (Hey a guys got to get credit for something.). Happy

Well, 146th is bad

I'm not sure what you're saying, whether Russia should be considered worse than 146th or whether Russia should be considered much better than 146th.

My own view is that Russia's position looks about right. I suspect, (but no first hand proof), that Russian society survives off 'who you know', 'what money you have to buy favors', and 'what payments you receive from giving such favors'.

I doubt this is a CIA contrived table at all. Tables are always contentious, especially if you are in it but positioned at the deep end. But this one seems reasonable to me.

It is very confusing

You have to look at the scores. It is a 10-point scale and the higher the number the less corrupt. Russia is 2.2 and the US is 7.3. Let's all move to New Zealand with a score of 9.4 or Denmark with 9.3. I wonder what they talk about there?
