Question

The Toyota Corolla of laptops!!

So I am looking for a laptop for grad work, streaming, and photography. But here is the tough part: I want a reliable brand with a long lifespan! (The only reason I have considered macbook is because they are said to last longer than the typical 4/5 years.)
Currently considering Asus N500JV, maybe a mac, or a Lenovo...
Advice is more than appreciated!

So far

We have a lot of Toughbooks, Thinkpads and Lattitudes at the office that hit 4+ years. Almost all have a dead battery or in the case of desktop use about 50 to 70% capacity of a new battery so life span is not all about make. Use and care are a big deal. If they sit on a desk they seem to last for years. Those that are used by students with daily travel almost always need repairs in year 3 and on.

I haven't had a laptop that lasted less

then 5 years. I've owned 8 laptops and all but 2 work today. I've had 2 Sagers, Hp's, Hitachi, 3 Acers and 1 boutique brand. All of them have been top of the line processors. I've only had 2 of those require warranty work (both graphical related). It's hit or miss since they are all mass produced and they do have lemon Corolla's.

If you had asked for the Rolls Royce of laptops I would have suggested something else. For the Toyota Corolla of laptops Asus will take the beating.
