burn the clothes you wore while staying here

I guess the technology is cheap enough

to make it worthwhile. (The towels often weren't.)
I once epoxied resistors into a bunch of TV sets at RCA for a hotel sale. Tied into a Wheatstone bridge. The epoxy made it impossible to read or measure the value, for substitution. As soon as you unplugged everything to walk away, the desk would get a red light.
Done now through the cable connection.

I recall that term from back in the day

For the laymen here,
Feb 9, 2015 5:58AM PST

it's four resistances connected in a square. One pair of opposite connections has a signal put into it and the other pair of opposite connections reads the output, which is expected to be stable. All four resistances are equal. If one changes (the one in the TV let's say, which goes to open-circuit or short-circuit, the output goes crazy. It also happens if there's a significant change in one, like a thief trying to connect an approximate value as he disconnects it.
Wasn't trying to impress anyone; I eschew obfuscation. Happy

Extending the bridge?

Of course you & I know that's "impedance",
Feb 9, 2015 6:41AM PST

but I avoid unnecessary use of technical words that tend to confuse rather than edumacate. Say, there ought to be a phrase for that...
They are very sensitive, especially with latest tech. And look how old it is.

wow

I never thought of stealing a robe or towels... it must have cost the hotels lots of money to get those mini chips into the towels. So I wonder what would happen if you got caught stealing a white towel... hrmm...
