THE SYSTEM HAS REACHED THE MAXIMUM SIZE ALLOWED...

I booted my computer the other day and got this message: THE SYSTEM HAS REACHED THE MAXIMUM SIZE ALLOWED FOR THE SYSTEM PART OF THE REGISTRY. ADDITIONAL STORAGE REQUESTS WILL BE IGNORED. Then when I tried to do anything on my desktop, nothing responded. So I re-booted and there was no error message this time, and everything worked fine. BUT...every other time I start up my computer, I get the same message -- and when I re-boot, then the message is gone and my computer works fine.

Also, I went to C:\Windows\System32\Config and the size of my system file is less than 9 MB. Any ideas? Thanks!

Win XP Pro (SP2), Dual 3 GHz Xeons, 3 GB of RAM, plenty of HD space, Dell Precision 650

Have you installed anything before this started happening, what did you do before this happened?

thanks...

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll check it out. But any other suggestions would be welcomed as well. The problem is that it appears that the issue that the warning/error message refers to doesn't actually exist, since it appears that my registry system file is not overly large.

Nvidia drivers...

In reply to: Sharing about the old 64K key limitation.

Thanks to all who responded.

It was the drivers for my Nvidia Quadro FX 3000 graphics card. Someone suggested uninstalling and re-installing them, so I did and the problem is gone.
