The strangest sound problem

Jan 24, 2005 3:52PM PST

I have no idea what this could be. I have a Turtle Beach Santa Cruz sound card, Dell Dimension 8100, and run Win XP. I have McAfee virus software. Here's the deal. 95% of the time, the sound works great. 5% of the time, I hear the most loud and obnoxious sound distorting sound that is trying to be played. Then it mysetiously vanishes and all is back to normal.

My only clue is when I tried to test the software last, McAfee detected "suspcious script" and shut it down. Windows also did so similarly with a firewall. Other than that it is very strange - becasue as I said it only happens for 20 minutes or so at a time, then back to normal for a few days before another sound issue.

Any clues?
