The Sims 2, won't finish downloading

Sep 21, 2004 6:48AM PDT

Hey, I bought the sims 2 for my windows 98 computer. It begins the installation and downloads up to 77%. but it won't go any further than that. i kept it on for ages and it still won't go pass 77%. my computer is a windows 98 and it has 14.9 GBs on it with 9.67 Gbs in use and 5.22 GBs free. i have no idea why it isn't working. i'm not sure if this is the right section for stuff like this but if anyone can help me that would be great.

Let's write that you are having an install issue. But I can't tell what the possible issue is yet.

My kid installed it but they had 20GB free and used the DVD version. There was a snag in the DirectX refresh rate which we cured with DXDIAG and the OVERRIDE button...

More clues?

Is the machine pest free?

Hey. Sorry to hear about your troubles.
But one problem could definately be, that you are trying to run the Sims 2 on a Windows 98 computer.

It requires you to have: at least 993 MHz processor or better, at least 256mb of Ram, and at least 3.5 GB of Hard Drive Space.

It really is not recommended, unless you have a very good video card and sound card.

If you have loads of mp3's and videos this could be why the installation will not finish, or perhaps because you are running more than one thing at a time?

Disable startup items while installing this program, and see if that helps.
