The SIM card inserted in this iPhone does not appear to be..

The SIM card inserted in this iPhone does not appear to be supported. Well I got an Iphone 3 awhile ago and it was working just fine, till I used Itunes to update the firmware, now I can't even speak for more than 5 mins because the phone would hang on, (emergency calls)... amazing apple.

I made the huge mistake of supporting apple and they blocked the possibility of continuing using it... The thing is that precious data is in the phone and I'm looking for a way to unlock the device and use it.

I tried by downgrading to an older version, but is not working. Please could anyone help me, what can I do?

not much

Not much to be honest, hopefully they could change that monopolist policy... I'm looking for someone who have changed this... I mean this thing of phones being exclusive of a network when they are not CDMA is just plain ridicule, in my humble opinion. I feel like a wasted money on a phone that just can make emergency calls.

What did they say when you spoke to them about this problem?

Restricting the phone to one carrier has nothing whatsoever to do with your current problem.
Even if the phone has multiple carriers, it will still be configured in the same way, iTunes, and will still have software updates issued by Apple.

If you have not talked with Apple about this problem, just whining about their "monopolist" policy is not going to help at all.
By the way, Apple sells a Smart Phone, Google sells a Smart Phone, Others sell a Smart Phone, I don't see the "Monopoly" here.

Call Apple or go to an Apple store

Confirm that you said that the phone was Jailbroken.

Two questions . . .

Is this phone jailbroken?

Have you tried setting in iTunes to use the phone as a drive? I forget the exact wording, but you can set the drive to manual and then move your precious data to your hard drive.

yeah, but just could recover the photos not the other data, seems to be hidden somewhere because the space left is bigger than the space the photos left. Seriously I feel like... what... I can't believe a company limating a product so much.

I read this reply and it appears you are learning the old lesson about backup.

In case some moderator didn't tell you, I will. Ready?

"We only lose what we didn't backup."

-> Now it's getting sad as I encounter consumers that expect machines to be flawlesss and never lose a thing.
