The right camcorder for recording live bands??

Jul 15, 2007 5:40AM PDT

I am looking for an entry level proffesional set up for recording oru bands live performances and making videos of them.
I would like to know what my best bet is for good audio and quality video.
I dont need hd quality but a good overall picture under all sots of lighting conditions for users with little experience or knowledge to this point.

We will learn to use manual controls off the bat and spend a lot of time experimenting.
What should we be looking at with a budget around 1500$

We would also like to perhaps offer a pay service to other bands near us to record their shows so again quality is the main issue and a unit that will record loud performances and not distort.

Thanks for reading and any advice you may have,

Lump

Some tips...

1) Take a look at www.camcorderinfo.com. They have a wealth of information there and some in depth reviews of camcorders around your budget. This should assist you with the video portion.

2) For the audio portion, please take a look at the very informative Forum Sticky located at the top of the Forum page. The tips near the bottom of the page should give you a very clear idea on audio.
