General discussion

The required section was not found in the INF

Dec 23, 2003 7:55AM PST

I disabled onboard video and deleted the drivers for the video card to install a new one. The installation went bad so I tried installing the old integrated video. When I try installing the VGA controller, it doesn't work and I get this message: The required section was not found in the INF
This message occurs when I try installing the VGA controller from the Motherboard cd and when I install the updated VGA drivers from the website.
Please Help!!!
I can only view the screen at 800 by 600 and I can not play any games.
There are no display drivers in the device manager.
Will reinstalling Windows help?

Try booting up in SAFE MODE. Most likely

you will find multiple video drivers [Safe Mode is the only way to see multiple drivers]. Remove them ALL and then reboot. Before you do, be certain what video card that you want to use and install the drivers for that item.

Don't know why the card install should have gone badly. What card?? And BTW what operating system? What type/make computer??

1. The article [Q314854] describes procedures that you can follow to troubleshoot difficulties with video drivers when you start your computer.

2. Supplemental reading: "Resources for Troubleshooting Display Problems in Windows XP (Q307960)."

Note: This article covers the Video Display Troubleshooter included in the Help and Support Center, and to provide a helpful list of online support services. It also included links to other articles which may be helpful.
