General discussion

the recycle bin

Nov 20, 2003 1:11AM PST

When I first got Windows XP Pro edition, the recycle bin was in the bottom right corner, which I liked. Now it is on the left side with the other desktop icons. How can I get it back to the bottom? Thanks for your help anyone.

When you start adding shortcuts to your Desktop these icons have to be arranged somehow.
By default Explorer arranges them by Auto-Arrange.

If you want to customize the arrangement do this:

Right-Click the Desktop | Arrange Icons By |
Uncheck the two options:
* Auto Arrange
* Align to Grid

Now you can freely drag the icons to any position you want.

Have fun.

If you have activate the Quick Launch icons on your Taskbar you can drag a copy of the Recycle Bin to the Quick Launch area so that it is always visible when you have an application open.

Now if you want to you can empty the Recycle Bin or drag files there.

Cheers.
