the panasonic squelch nv-s88b

Hi
Anyone any ideas on how to stop the audible 'squelch' noise left on your soundtrack every time you press the pause/stop button
i've had this on two s-vhs camcorders
the panasonic '77' and the nv-s88b

get it out is to bring it into a video editor, and replace the sound at that location with sound from a quiet spot on the video.
