General discussion

the Olympus C 765 ultra zoom

May 28, 2005 1:11AM PDT

I just bought the Olumpus C 765.
It is a really good camera. I am very happy with it.
But when I try to take a picture indoor of a moving subject, between the focus time and the flash working the subject is very blury or out of the picture.
Is there a way to fix that? Is it normal? Should I use some of the manual setting for that?
Help. I am trying to decide if I want to keep it or return it.
Thank you

You are expecting too much for any auto mode.

When shooting under low light conditions, the camera may take longer to achieve focus lock. If the subject is moving too, it will take even longer to lock focus.

Try using manual focus for the conditions you described.

evening shots of kids

Thank you, I appreciate your help.
I tried today some manual modes. I put the shutter at 1/1000 . But it seems that the flash takes for ever to shoot.
I would like to take some pictures of kids indoor in the evenings. What can I do to make my camera respond quick enough to get the shot I want?
Is it possible without beeing a professional?
Thank you for all your help

Action at low light

If you have not tried it......use manual focus.
The Owner's manual will tell you how to set it.

When shooting in low light, don't overdo the shutter speed. When you increase shutter speed, you need more light. Try a shutter speed of about 1/250th, while using "shutter priority" mode.

Something else to try:
Frame your subject and press the shutter button down half-way. Reframe your subject and then press the button down the rest of the way.
