The Official Page NOT found tracking thread

Jun 19, 2006 7:58AM PDT

Hey folks,

To give the engineers something to go on to find out what is causing these "Page Not Founds" in the forums, I need a huge favor from you all. If and when you do encounter a page not found, when you're able to post in the forums, please post the incident here. I need the exact time and date in your post for these incidents. This way our engineers can look into the server logs to find out what may have caused these issues during that time.

So please do not create new threads about "Page not founds". Post them directly under this thread here.

Thanks a bunch!!

-Lee

Basic C/net server issues?
Jul 4, 2006 6:33AM PDT

I went to another forum to gripe about the C/net bandwidth meter, to my surprize there was already a thread and a lot of posts there. Maybe C/net has older technology or too small bandwidth to handle all the loads. On some forum pages their banner ad keeps causing my current page to re-load.
got this thought from the National Weather Service because of the way weatherbug diplays alerts. they are using software which was updated in 1996 :^) GEEEZ

The editors...
Jul 4, 2006 7:19AM PDT

The editors pretty much stick to the product reviews, new articles, and the forums dedicated to the podcasts. In fact I've never seen one post in this forum. Of course they can report issues directly to the engineers since they all work in the same building. Once in a while an engineer, such as Adam, will stop in if there's a major problem, but for the most part it's just Lee handling the suggestions and complaints, acting as the messenger. (Remember, don't shoot the messenger. Happy)

Jul 24, 2006 8:28AM PDT

Just about every time I click on a member's username to view his/her profile I receive the Cnet 404...I have to refresh the page twice in order for it to load properly. At least the third time's the charm.

Page Not Found: Fixed?
Jul 24, 2006 9:53AM PDT

Everything seems to be working again. For myself.

(I'm sorry, John, for posting in the other thread. Don't you think I would have posted in this thread if I could get to it? Just a though. [This page was one of the 404s.])

from Firefox 8:55 cst to 9:00cst Still having to use IE.

Not have this much trouble until a few days ago.

This is a PITA having to use IE and having MOd lock your post when you try to report its only Firefox.
