I agree that it seems more appropriate in some ways now with streaming coming into widespread use, but I don't give them that much credit for forward-thinking way back when. I just think they thought it would be much more efficient to mail discs from regional warehouses than to erect brick and mortar stores like Blockbuster, and that's been borne out. And I do give them credit for seeing the trend lines on streaming, too. I just don't think that was part of the original plan, but hey, I could be wrong.
Something interesting occurred to me - the name "NetFlix" never really made sense for a company that used snailmail to transmit their content.
Only now that they are streaming more and more of their content via the NET does the name "NetFlix" actually seem appropriate.
This leads to a question - did the NetFlix founders envision this evolution since day one and name the company for what it would become? If so they are even more brilliant than their current moves give them credit for!
