It appears that the TVs with a portal engage in revenue sharing for say Netflix and such. But all keep quiet about privacy and what data they are collecting.

This is unbelievably abysmal program security at Philips. The programming community learned long ago of the dangers of such backdoors (remember the "Wizard's Password" in Unix Sendmail?), but seldom has one been so patently obvious and so easily and widely exploitable.
I trust that Philips is pushing a revision almost immediately and firing the people who let this one get by.
