I agree that everyone makes a mistake sometime. But I still haven't heard anything that makes me think that Sony really thinks that they did something wrong. They changed policy because of public outcry, not because one part of the company forced the other to see its mistake.
Sony has pushed propriatary formats and its own systems and doesn't seem to get the idea that people want to be able to use their own stuff.
I think that people should not judge Sony as a whole, but they need to realize that this DRM flub-up. The DRM scandal was very wrong, yes, but from what I've gathered, that was only one department of Sony. I think that it is normal to be wary of Sony CDs, but not to buy their monitors or PSPs or whatever doesn't seem reasonable. Sony has always been known for high quality products.
I also think that writing to Sony in a clear and well-thought-out letter would be an added step in turning Sony from their sneaky DRM ways. Just remember everybody makes a mistake now and then.
