The IT Crowd: ARG!!!!! DRM BITES!!!!

Feb 10, 2006 6:35AM PST

Remember that UK Channel4 show that Tom mentioned a while back, that had episodes streaming online?

Well, Channel 4 have gone and completely screwed things up by attaching a DRM infection on it!

it now requires a WMP Media key to play, because they claim it is to stop people outside the UK from watching it.

Well, DUH - all it's done is ruined the online experience of non-windows users who have not got access to a PC!!!

They could have done as the BBC do and used some sort of IP sniffer that determines what country your ISP is originating, - but no, DRM Rulez OK?

How ironic that they do this to a show more than likely to be watched by geeks and nerds, the very people who run Linux, MacOS and so on - who will bite them back in the ***!!

ARRRGH! DRM MUST GO!!!!
