*Whew* I'd begun to think I've been creating memories of past abuses. Thanks!
Ummm...red door?
Dan
Doesn't anybody else remember that our intelligence community (coupled with "homeland" political agendas) has acted very badly in the past? There has been case after grotesque case of one political party or the other circumventing the law, the congress and the will of the people by sending in the spooks. Learn or repeat. Once upon a time, upon retrospect, it seemed a prudent precaution to separate the building of domestic dossiers from foreign. Transparency and due process are appropriate when it concerns my file, dad'gum'it! Gun registration data, as an example. The only threat that I ever intend to pose is: one pair of ears, one vote and one small voice. I hope I never have prove the negative. Presumption of innocence till proven guilty and all that. There have been major, major abuses in our past. Foreign and domestic.
I think it'd be a good healthy thing to review how we got into this situation in the first place, including who exactly gained and what possible transgressions we may have committed in the process. Asses, apparently, don't stay kicked as smoothly as we may wish. I have yet to hear in our media what these terrorists main complaint is. To me, that is a very weird idea. Does EVIL pretty much cover it? (Admittedly, I'm pretty lazy about reading their press.)
And Big Brother looms! It scares me badly that it is now possible to integrate all the "preference" data that so called advertisers have been gathering. I see in my crystal ball, campaign ads featuring keyword searches of a political candidates adolescent chat sessions. Where is J0hn P0indexter these days, anyway?
So now the spooks and the mercenary super heroes are back, and mark my words, street drug prices are again going to fall!
