Grif,

It's nice and useful and long awaited and FAST, but I don't fully understand it.

Searching for delete safe give posts with both words in it (an implicit and). Nothing wrong with that. Same for normal dot; of course, the combination normal.dot is often found.

However, if I enter "normal.dot" (with quotes) I expect only threads where the combination exists (like in google). But I get mostly posts with only NORMAL and no DOT at all. No DOT in sexygirls 'thanks but', no DOT in my 'Re: re: re: Computer to television', only normal NORMALs, so to say.

But, still, very useful. A big improvement.

Thanks for bringing it to our attention,

Kees

Kee's, I Agree, It Still Needs Improvement But....

....it's certainly better than before.

I have worked with other search engines where the "normal.dot" example would find everything with BOTH "Normal" and "dot" included in the text of the messages found. (the ./period is used by the search engine as a "space".) In those search engines, there is an option to "search for all the terms" from the search field, so that all items must be listed in the message for it to be detected which causes only those messages where "normal" and "dot" are combined....or the setting can be chosen for "Search for any terms or use query as entered" which causes the search engine to find any and all combinations of the entered search data. It becomes a personal choice and how to run the search.

As we find out what we like, and don't like, about the search engine, we should post some helpful feedback in the "Forum Feedback" section.

Hope this helps.
