But on other ADFs I found that you could feed it upside down (so the holes are on the other edge) for the scan. The problem is that the paper pickup and feed is not as good as a good copier so while it will do OK on fresh printouts on copier paper any step back is a step back.
No one will give you the answer that it will be without trouble.

This is an inquiry as to the robustness, how versatile the scanner adf of the MP530 and MP830 are.
Has anyone tried feeding 3-hole punched paper thru the feeder to be scanned and what was the experience like.
According to their user guides on p.49
"to prevent paper jams in the ADF, do not use any of the following? hole-punched paper".
Now it would be a common scenario to attempt to feed documents contained in binders thru these feeders, binders full of pages that would be time consuming to place on the platen glass as that's a manual process.
I contacted Canon about this and they told me that they "cannot be certain that regular 3-hole punch paper will jam inside the PIXMA MP830".
As I do not yet have these devices can anyone with any of these units perform that experiment for me? feeding 3-hole punched paper thru the feeder to be scanned.
Can you also perform the same experiment with magazine pages (ripped out of the magazine first) and relay your experience here.
I thank you for your assistance in my decision making process.
