''The disc burner in use by an application other than iTunes

by TonyTTurner / January 16, 2006 4:06 AM PST

Hi, anyone...
I get the above Error message when I try to burn a disc using iTunes for Windows.
I also have Yahoo! music Engine, Windows Media Player, MusicMatch JukeBox, QuickTime and RealPlayer on my PC...But iTunes is supposed to be the ''Default'' player.
Can anyone help?
(Please see my Profile for my system Specs.)
(I also have DVD 4 Free 43) downloaded....could this be part of the problem?
Any answers please Email me at my "Member Profile name" @gmail.com
Thanks in advance.

Did you try the obvious?

That is, eject DVD43?

Did you also uninstall any software that has the DVDRW/CDRW as a disk drive such as Roxio's DirectCD or Nero's InCD?

Hi, R. Proffitt...I'm assuming..
by TonyTTurner / January 17, 2006 3:17 PM PST

When you say "Eject" DVD43, you mean..."Close" and/or Uninstall it?...A little Yellow "SmileyFace" icon stays in the lower Tray for DVD43 as it awats a DVD to be inserted...should I Right Click to Close it, or..??
And I didn't even realize that InCD was Nero's app.(I do have Nero btw.
(I'll try your hints and respond back, ok?

Ok..Here's what I did, and it WORKED!...
by TonyTTurner / January 17, 2006 4:32 PM PST

I went to "Add/Remove Programs", Clicked on the Remove Nero button. It gave me 2 items to chose to Delete, one of them was InCD which I UnInstalled and Restarted the PC.
Upon Logging-in, I Right clicked (on DVD43) to Close it.
Then, after opening iTunes, I was SUCCESFUL in Burning a "Test" CD
Thanks Again, R.Proffitt!

Hi, I had the same problem. Just reboot your computer and the disc burner will automatically get recognised by Itunes. It worked for me !
