So Konkel's friends went fishing, and came up empty.
So now what ? They'll argue for the next many months
that this document wasn't historic and that Dr Rice misled them ?

Don't think of fishing, think of a 3-ring circus. The Democrats want your attention focused exclussively to the center floodlit ring, on which is appearing the 9/11 hearing.
The goal is to deflect attention from the other rings, in which John Kerry's military record or John Kerry's VVAW activities sit "waiting to go on". The name of the game is to deflect attention away from Kerry's questionable activities. It's like the magician who uses an assistant in a skimpy costume, the idea is for the audience to look at that and miss the actions of the magican/(candidate).
You mean the PDB that former Democrat senator Bob Kerrey illegally declassified by reading from it during Condeleeza Rice's appearance before the Inquisition, er, 9/11 Commission last Thursday? That one? <sarcasm> Wonder what would happened had I done a similar thing while still wearing Air Force Blue? </sarcasm>
If you were asked to characterize that briefing in one word, would that word be "historical?" "Historic," maybe -- but the opportunity was missed... As was this one:
Cole attack probe nearly unraveled 9/11 plot. With all the reports tripping over themselves to come out, Condy's claim that "shaking the trees" would have been futile is sounding more and more like exactly what it is -- a poor excuse for a poor job.
