The Daily Show affects young voters

According to a recent study published in the May issue of SAGE Publications' journal, American Politics Research, researchers conclude that young Americans' political views are negatively impacted by watching the popular The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, which airs late night on Comedy Central as a 'fake-news program.'

...

"it is possible that unfavorable perceptions of both parties' nominees could form, ultimately keeping more youth from the polls."

Good!

Unusual souvenir..

Unusual souvenir, AIR the DD44 went to the draft board. Most people kept their DD214 as a souvenir/record of their service.

not really

I wasn't looking at DD214. the 44 was often referred to for bush's tang record. I was illang, 217th afcs-66-72. honorable discharge no further obligation per ets. like the swifties I served with gw during vietnam era.

I remember seeing a recent poll (will look for it)
May 15, 2006 6:40AM PDT

that had Pres. Bush and leading polictians from both sides of the aisle at low numbers.
Just goes to show that independent-thinking individuals (usually young'uns who aren't constrained by habit) are turning their backs on our two-party system that invites corruption. Its the first step to revolution.

Who was being polled?
May 15, 2006 6:52AM PDT

I am not at all convinced that young people are "independent thinkers". Some are, but many are not.

Were the people polled "independent thinkers"? I have a feeling it's just the periodic "throw the bums out" sentiment that comes around every so often. Usually produces nothing significant; maybe a Ross Perot type aberration at best.

And often "throw the bums out" means "throw those other bums out; my guy is okay."

Maybe that would be called cynical.
