The CISCO iPhone - come on, who are they kidding?!?

Okay, CISCO should maybe have some protection for their registered trademark. But - get serious! There is NOBODY in this country right now - except for maybe a few Cisco employees - who think "Cisco" when they hear "iPhone." I think that they just have dollar signs in their eyes and see Apple as a target - it's not about protecting a name that no one associates with Cisco!

I, for one, sent an email to Cisco and let them know that their lawsuit is pretty stupid, and that I'm sure staying far away from Cisco products until they get a bit more amenable with Apple. Anyone out there with me??

Apple pulls worse crap out of their hat all the time. Cisco is *huge* and I'm sure their spam filter loved reading your email.

Yeah...

So Apple has every word with an "I" attached trademarked by default because the ipod has done so well? Get real...I hope Cisco wins this case just to put Apple in its place. I'm sure in the end they will settle.

Wouldn't you Sue?

In reply to: The CISCO iPhone - come on, who are they kidding?!?

Let's take a different case. You are an engineer who designs this elaborate phone, it has no keyboard only a large touch screen. It has all of these cool features like a proximity sensor. But you are just a small person so you don't have to power to convince any cell phone manufacturers or providers that your phone is the best. You go ahead and get patents on all of the technology anyways because you know its a good idea. 10 years later a company comes to you and says they want to make the phone for you, but they don't want to give you much money so you decline the offer hoping to get more from it. Weeks later you find out this company announced the phone you designed.

Maybe no one thinks about you because you aren't a company, but you own it. Wouldn't you sue? You did own if after all.

Now this isn't exactly the case, just switch patents with trademarks and you with Cisco.

Cisco is the world leader in network technology. Apple is a piddly ****** company compared to Cisco Systems.

Both are leaders in their respective fields. Millions of networks rely on the ingenuity and reliability of Cisco systems; Millions of people rely on the reliability of Mac OS X and the iPod.

"Piddly ****** company".. don't be ridiculous.

I think there's a big difference between millions of people relying on the *iPod*? and a corporate enterprise relying on Cisco's network products for usability and security. So as far as integrity goes in the market, I think Cisco might have a little more.

Sort of

I said / meant in their respective fields: Apple lead the portable audio market; Cisco lead the network technology market.

you can't be serious!

In reply to: Sort of

Your precious little iPod or MacOSX machines wouldnt be able to download music or do ANYTHING internet related without the millions of cisco backbone hardware and software that connect ISP's, corporations (Apple too), and even you own home network. Gimme a break! And umm yeah Microsoft is the leader in home PC, not Apple. You cant non-jokingly put Apple in the same class as Cisco, puh-lease.

I use Windows, not macs. I only said Apple lead in the portable audio market. They're not in the same league as Cisco - I purely meant they lead in a specific field: portable audio. Nothing else.

Doesn't matter!

In reply to: The CISCO iPhone - come on, who are they kidding?!?

just cuz you think i means apple, doesnt mean everyone does. Personally, I used to, but now there's so many i products that I don't really. if you look at the news.com article, they don't think i- will hold up in court even tho Mc from McDonalds did.

Either way, its so brazen what he did, the sheer audacity of it all!
