The Call of the Buzz Report

by MarylandPeter / February 2, 2006 6:59 AM PST

This is a little embarrassing, and I normally don't "out" myself, but I think this story is one that my fellow Buzz-erians can relate to.

I had one of those really busy days at work; racing from meeting to meeting, working under deadlines, etc. Though my schedule was full, I must admit I did have a chance to eat a quick breakfast and a full lunch, not to mention coffee and tea throughout the day.

Well, to cut to the chase, five o'clock rolls around, and I realize that I haven't had the opportunity to visit the men's room even once and now the need is CRITICAL. I've got about fifteen minutes before I must head out of the office, so I quickly reach to "lock" my computer when I realize that I haven't yet downloaded my Buzz Out Loud for today. I figure, with an East Coast time of 5:00 pm, it?s 2:00 pm VERONICA time, so she's returned from lunch and uploaded the podcast. If I can just hold off for a moment, I can set the download to start, and when I return, I can listen to the podcast in the car.

Summoning all my willpower, I quickly open iTunes and attempt the download, but to my dismay, today's podcast isn't there. But in my vivid imagination, I can see Veronica uploading the file at that very moment <shame on some of the rest of you for your vivid imaginations?>.

"It will be there any second now", I tell myself. So I'm hopping on one leg and every few seconds clicking the "Update Podcast" on the menu. I know the moment I give up, THAT'S when the upload will be complete, and once I return from the rest room, there won't be time for the download.

By now, my co-workers think I?ve lost it because they hear me hopping and clicking and muttering under my breath, "Veronica... come on baby... VERONICA!!!... ".

I try to distract myself by considering far more uncomfortable situations (Snakes on Planes!!). I ask myself, WWMD (?What Would Molly Do??), but the need continues to grow, and I can?t hold out much longer.

Finally, the Call of Nature over-rides the Call of the Buzz Cast.

I do finally listen to that's day's podcast... the next day. But the story doesn?t end there.

Here's my problem now: Every time I click on "Update Podcast", I feel the need to use the bathroom.

i'm so sorry!!

i take full responsibility for any bladder problems you encounter in the future due to my lack of diligence.

i had a video shoot at 1:30, so the podcast got updated later. you can blame Justin Jaffe, the laptops editor, if you'd like Wink

No need to apologize, Veronica!

Thanks for your kind post, V.

I just wanted y'all to know that for many of us, the BOL podcast is a must-have. You guys rock, and if we have to endure a little discomfort in order to hear the podcast sooner rather than later - - so be it.

Oh, I need to issue a correction; the title should have been the Call of the Buzz Out Loud, not the Buzz Report. My bad.
