Question

the best scanner with specific features

Oct 3, 2011 12:40PM PDT

Hello,
In need of good scanner, $400 range, auto feed 50 sheets or less of any size paper, eg. receipts, possible several taped to 8.5 x11, excellent OCR and user friendly software bundle, take all forms doc, wpd, jpg, tiff, etc. Want to couple it with online fax service.
Trying to find best one and have come up with very good reviews on Visioneer Strobe 500 (1 USB to a/c) and the Xerox Documate 3115. Can anyone suggest a site with sincere objective reviews or an actual product that will do the job, user friendly and little learning curve, offering me the ability to store scanned material wherever I please in my pc. Thank you

Answer
I've never seen that at any price.

Xerox was about the most advanced paper handling but we found it to fail when we fed what you listed and that was on 5+ figure copiers.

Hello Bob, RE: search for good scanner

Thank you for taking the time!
What did you finally get as an acceptable scanner since the only 2 I found (on paper) that seemed to fit the bill, in reality won't cut it. I see a lot of good commentary regarding Fijitsu Scanners, or maybe I just need to up the price.
Can you shed any light on what you finally used or what you feel is the best scanner out there that would match my earlier specs? Thank you for taking the time.

Why? I asked the other moderators when I needed a new printer all in one.

I don't expect that much from paper handling so I straighten out the paper and feed it with care and for the odd pieces I put them on the scan area.

What you want is what you want. Hope you find it.
