In reply to: The difference is...

....you guys sure have trouble discerning the difference between fact and opinion.

I guess that explains why the original post wasn't trolling but anything critical of Bush is.

Collapse -
I think you miss the point of the cartoon...
by EdH / February 13, 2006 10:13 PM PST

it's not just that the donkey is wearing a "We hate Bush" t-shirt, it's that he is saying NOTHING.

A very apt description of the current state of the Dems.

As for trolling, much much more from your side of the fence than ours, so what's the big deal?

I didn't miss the point at all
by Josh K / February 14, 2006 12:13 AM PST

But it is expressing an opinion, not stating a fact.

Which part was not factual?
by EdH / February 14, 2006 2:01 AM PST

That many many Democrats hate Bush?

Or that they have nothing of substance to say?

Collapse -
Part two is most definitely not factual
by Josh K / February 14, 2006 2:46 AM PST

As to part one, I'd have to see some poll results.

Collapse -
Poll results! That's pretty funny by itself.
by EdH / February 14, 2006 2:53 AM PST

As for part two, I'd have to see a list. Or maybe some poll results.

Sorry. I just find this very amusing.

It's really very simple, Ed

Whether a group of people (Democrats, Republicans, the Irish or whoever) has anything to say is a matter of opinion. You have yours; I have mine. ''Democrats have nothing to say'' is an opinion and not a fact.

If you still don't understand that, well then we'll just go around in circles on this and I'll bow out.

Bear with me a little longer...
by EdH / February 14, 2006 3:15 AM PST

WHY do you think it is that people think the Democrats have nothihg to say, beyond Bush bashing? I've heard this even form Democrats. Why?

Don't you think they ought to address this issue?

Collapse -
Actually I do think they need to address the issue
by Josh K / February 14, 2006 3:19 AM PST

Their message (in my opinion) has become less clear in the last few years. Making Howard Dean the DNC Chairman sent the wrong message (in my opinion).

Even if millions of people share that opinion though, it's still a perception and an opinion, and not a fact.

"Howard Dean is wearing a blue tie" is a fact.

"Howard Dean is ridiculous" is an opinion.

Collapse -
Whew! Good.
by EdH / February 14, 2006 3:22 AM PST

They shouldn't address it. By all means let it slide.

Have you ever heard the saying "In politics, perception is reality"?

BTW it's only your opinion that "Howard Dean is ridiculous" is not fact.

I'm not sure they CAN.

Most don't want to be bothered with the truth, only with what fits in with what they already think:( And THAT goes for both sides of the fence:(

In reply to: Donkey = Democrat

''real'' donkeys don't talk, don't wear suits, t shirts,(unless their owners dress them up) and don't make political statements

So, What is the absolute truth?

Francis, the talking mule from the fifties could talk. It couldn't really talk but they had a guy do a voiceover as the mules lips moved.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
