The 2004 version is a misfire. Bob

Bob, I read your comment about Norton AntiVirus 2004 and seeking more information since I am using it.

What do you mean it is a "misfire"?

Is my computer not protected with Norton 2004?

"Bob, I read your comment about Norton AntiVirus 2004 and seeking more information since I am using it.

Too many people are having problems with it. Not everyone, but too many. Look at http://www.cnet.com/Norton_AntiVirus_2004/4852-3513_7-30521466.html?tag=dir and the 71% thumbs down is an indication something happened.

"Is my computer not protected with Norton 2004?"

I have TWO answers.

1. Yes.
2. No.

Yes. It works for the normal issues and virus, but it still can't protect the machine from other pests, parasites, adware, spyware, users opening or viewing malicious emails or websites.

It's not going to protect an user from "everything."

I am using Norton 2004. I am having email issues when I try to send email with Outlook Express, but I am or at least was able to receive mail and the best that I can tell it does scan for viruses. I have a popup on the task bar indicating this. Or so I thought. Any comment?

What if I didn't send a virus?

But instead sent you a file:javascript:while instead?

NAV does stop you from open a malicious attachment or link. Therefore it doesn't protect you from yourself.

Maybe you already said, but can you recommend an antivirus program that is user friendly and WORKS for the most import tasks?

Then what does Norton 2004 do? I want my email scanned and the only program I thought it worked with on my computer was Outlook Express. As I indicated in another message reply, I thought my incoming mail on Outlook Express was protected before it downloaded. I know Norton will not work with AOL. Is there a way that I can get it (Norton 2004) to scan my web mail? If so please advise.
Thanks,
m

Webmail.

Webmail you read is just an html-page. Virusscanners don't scan every page in IE for malware.

But if an attachment contained a virus, and you tried to open or save it, it should be noted.
