General discussion

Thanks to R. Proffitt

Thank you , Bob. I tried their forums, but could find no help. I decided to record the internet stations in .wav instead of mp3. Now WMP 10 and Realplayer "play" the files, but I can't hear any thing. They both show the files playing and the bar is moving but no sound that I can hear. Am I doing something wrong? In the instructions for opd2d it says to set the volume control to some kind of mixture, but when I go to access./entertainment/volume control I can't find a way to do that. Any advice you can provide would be very appreciated, thank you in advance, linomartinez1@hotmail.com

Let's try this...
Jan 4, 2005 11:12AM PST

I'm in a crunch time but let's see if we can step through this together.

TOMORROW, (sorry), I can put a little time to double check my settings. In the meantime, give me some URL or site to connect to with WMP 9 or such to test http://www.opcode.co.uk/opd2d/default.asp

I will not inflict WMP 10 or REAL PLAYER on any of my machines, but will try what I use with OPD2D if you'll give me a site to try.

I've subscribed to this discussion so I will know when you respond.

I forgot to run OP first. Then it worked.

Did you install the MP3 encoder noted?

mp3 encoder for opd2d

Bob thanks for taking the time. Yes, I went to the blade encoder site but since I am a moron, I did not know which one to download. None of the versions listed name WIN XP.There are some for Win (i586+) and Win (i586+)-DLL and some others, but it's all confusing to me.Perhaps when you have a little time you could tell me which one is appropriate for my operating system or whether or not it makes any difference which one I download, thanks, Lino

I can't tell yet.

But since you have XP, the 2000 version is fine. The 586 means "the processors that are better than the 80486" and the P4 would be used if you had the P4.

I did find that without the .DLL installed, recording worked, but an error did show, a file created that did nothing.

Bob, I downloaded the encoder you suggested and tried to record. Again the WMP and Realplayer can't play the file. When I rename the file from mp3 to .wav both recognize the file and show they are playing it but there is no sound. I don't think that I will take up anymore of your time,I am a hopeless case, but I do appreciate all the time you took to try and help me out, thanks, Lino

Try this. Put tne blade enc.dll into...
Jan 5, 2005 7:56AM PST

C:\Windows\System32

Then reboot, run the OD recorder program (just setup to MP3, filesize, name, but don't record yet) and then start the audio playing in WMP from the radio station. Try to record.

DO NOT rename the filename.

Thanks for the instructions, but as you might have surmised by now, you are dealing with a real dummy.I have the blade encoder below:

BEnc-0942-Win-i586-dll.zip

in My Documents, but I don't know how to put it in C/Windows/System 32. Would you believe that I don't even know how to find where C/Windows/System32 is located. I can reboot and set up the od recorder if you can guide me into placing the blade encoder into system 32. I apologize again for being so ignorant. Thanks, Lino

First you need to unzip it.
Jan 5, 2005 10:23PM PST

The Newbies forum has some noted about it, but placing the .ZIP anywhere will not work. We need the .DLL that is inside.

You would then use Explorer to copy it to the final directory.

Thanks for all the help,Bob. I have dumped this program from my computer. I will look for something else to record internet radio with that has everything built in without multiple downloads. Again, thanks for your help. Over and out, Lino
