Thanks for the help with my boot up problem that I posted a few days ago. I was out of town & finally got around to trying out your suggestions. Apparently, the problem was that my onboard sound was set to "auto" in bios & my onboard game port was also set to "on".
What I don't understand is that this comp is almost 3 years old & I have had no problems like this and have never changed any settings in bios, so how did they get changed??? Possibly the cmos battery is getting weak???
