I posted the other day about hooking up my bedroom tv(proview HX263) as a computer monitor. You said use what you have so I bought a VGA/DVI adapter and did just that. Using 1280x768 the display is absolutely astonishing. I'm sorry I upset Stewart by posting about my cheapo tv but it is a good second tv and displays HDTV beautifully via Component Video Cables and a Dish Model 811. Stewart, I do have a 42" Pioneer Plasma in my den. But all of you are right about people not buying HDTV because they don't know how to display it. When I found my big plasma at Walmart(it was$800 cheaper than the hoity-toity high end store) I asked the clerk (who obviously had the iq of a turnip) to get some help and turn the big Pioneer around so I could see the rear connections clearly. She said why and I said I wanted to see if it had HDMI or DVI connections or both so I know what kind of cables to purchase and she said all you need is a coax connection from the cable co. I called the managers office on my cell and got somebody to help turn the tv where I could look at it. On the other hand I got the Proview at a high end store because they had it hooked up to basic cable coax and with a $1625.00 tag for a 26" widescreen LCD it wasn't going anywhere with a crappy picture. So I wrote them a check for $759, blood, guts and feathers and if they could see this picture they would lay an egg. As everyone is ,I'm sure tired of my ranting, I'll run along, and Mr. Norrie, I'm really happy you got the home theatre of your dreams, now if you'd just let my grandchild mail you her spelling book everybody would be happy. I hope I didn"t offend you . Actually they way I bought my electronics was I first went to a lush budjet home theater store this way I got a true demo of the equipment, then I go to San Jose Honda Sony, these folks do nothing but high end installations and only have a demo room but they always order equipment for me . so I get awsome customer service and the equipment is always cheaper than Frys ETc They are a customers dream come true. The only problem with hi-end stores is when you go into one of there theater rooms and see a billion dollor system, It makes you feel like you own a piece of junk stewart

(NT) I'm kidding, too, You have a great deal of knowledge

Knowledge is a scarce commodity in this world. In my part of the world there are no stores like you have found, but with me being an old skinflint with a little knowledge I've been able to buy a lot of good stuff because people working in the stores are too stupid to display it properly and customers aint about to spring for the big bucks until they see the difference. Have a good day. D

Best of continued luck.

You gotta love it when simple advice works out. I'm a pushover for trying to get by with what I have first before running out and getting more stuff.

You need to charge more for your work so you can go out and by some of the "neat" stuff!
