TH-50PX80U (50" 720p) or TH-46PZ80U (46" 1080p)? Need help!!

This is going to be my first HDTV purchase. I'm on "tight" budget of 1300 dollars and I'm set on either model. I can't decide if I would rather have a 50" 720p Panny HDTV or a 46" 1080p Panny. The 46" 1080p HDTV is going for 1250 dollars and the 50" 720p Panny is going for 1120 dollars. I'll have my PS3 and DirecTV HD box connected to the set. I'm also planning on sitting anywhere between 6-11 feet away. Has anyone seen both HDTV's in person? Is the 1080p worth losing 4 inches and 130 dollars more? Thanks in advance.

viewing distance, you will not really be able to appreciate the extra resolution. Your call, of course, 720 works fine, 1080 seems to be a tad more "future proof." I wouldn't spend the extra money for the small degree of difference.

Flip a coin. Then when I got home i'd be bumbed I didn't buy the other. But I suffer from buyers remorse, thinking I could have always done better on price or product. I eventually get over it.

We still watch an old Panasonic 42" EDTV. DVDs look awesome. The only thing I think i'd like better is a bigger screen. We sit about 10-12 feet away. Doesn't look small though by no means. So I think 720p at 50" would be sweet. But as NM_Bill said, future proofing might be the way to go.

I hear a chorus of eenie meanie minie mo coming.
