i just purchased th50px60u on 03/19/06 from Best Buy for $3499.99 on a price match from Panasonic website. So far very pleased with the plasma beautiful picture. One thing, there is a loud humming noise coming from the set its probably the fan but just checking if anyone else is hearing the same sound? The speakers are alot better than last years models (50u's ), and upconvert dvd player lots amazing on this set .As far as the humming sound this is a great plasma good price very pleased.

TH-50PX60U
Mar 26, 2006 2:54AM PST

I just received my set yesterday and I am very pleased with the picture. I am also having DirecTV hook up my HD DVR so the picture should improve considerably. As far as a humming sound i've not heard anything of that sort from mine.

FYI Guys & Gals, I ordered my set direct from Panasonic and it only cost me $3,150 shipping was free. Best Buy is still selling these sets for $3,999 and that does not include any type of extended warrenty.

Once I get everything set up I will give you guys some more feed back....

Hi,

When did you purchase the unit? The Panny web-site currently lists the tv at $3499. Did you have some type of discount, pre-shipment discount perhaps? Thanks.

If you call Panasonic and this will be your first purchase from them direct they give you an instant 10% discount. I order my set on 3/14 and I received it on 3/25 which believe me came a lot sooner then I expected....

I am very interested in knowing where you order your Panasonic plasma TV. Did you get it from the internet? I checked the Panasonic web site and I don't see the price yor order. Also, do you purchase additional waranty? Thanks.

Call them direct....

I am urging you guys to call Panasonic direct and if you haven't purchased anything from them where they've given you the Panasonic Club discount they will instantly give you a 10% discount. As for the free shipping you will need to check if they are still offering that.

One word about this Plasma.... AMAZING!!!

Direct purchase from Panasonic.

Panasonic has, within the last few days, removed all but the 37PX60 from "Buy Now" availability on their website. I am hoping that this is only due to the initial production run selling out and not due to some policy change with Panasonic. Cheers

Just Call Panasonic.....
Mar 30, 2006 1:45PM PST

I was told when I purchased the TV that Panasonic ramped up production more so then last year because of the issues they had with supplies. I never used the buy now button I just called and spoke directly with a CSR and he took my order right on the spot.

It can't hurt to call, what do you have to lose????

speakers??
Mar 27, 2006 1:29AM PST

Getting mixed messages on the sound on this TV. The reviews (2 out three) on Cnet main site for this TV say the sound is bad? i don't want to drop the extra $800 or so for the pioneer - any audio gurus out there to clarify this?

They do just fine....

I really can't imagine anyone who purchases this type or size of TV to only use the built in speakers. They perform as well as expected for built in's, I recommend a surround sound system to fully enjoy this TV.

I personally went with this set for the absolutely incredible picture and it is truely life like picture, can't go wrong for the money.

followup about the hum
Nov 24, 2006 7:00AM PST

I just bought the same set, agree that the video is great, but I've got the humming/interference noise, it's driving me nuts. Does anyone know how to make it stop? It happens even when I use the menus, go to Audio, and turn speakers "off".

I set up my receiver and speakers to the TV for sound, don't know if this is related, but it sounds terrible (static-y) and it's not the speakers/receiver because when I listen to radio it sounds fine.

Thanks for any tips/advice as to what causes the hum --
