tft with dvi-i doing hd partioning? No image on TFT??

When I tried to change a partion size of my hd with Quarterdeck Partion Magic 8, the TFT turned black and I was unable do see what is going on and could not manage the process.
After an hour I restartet the pc and got a scrash.
Is it not possible to use such system program with digital monitor?
With my old pc and vga monitor I could see the partition process.
